Registered in England No. 1725990 Printing Aids Blanket/Roller Washes Q & A / Advice - “The Method”: Regular use of “The Method” will keep your rollers in the optimum condition required to produce superior printed results, by removing calcium and increasing ink affinity. Components: • Vegra PUR-O-PAST: A high quality roller paste that reduces the amount of solvent required and restores the velvet nap of your rollers. A superior decontaminant when used in conjunction with Vegra Roller Shampoo VP 187. • Vegra Roller Shampoo 20 20 11 (VP 187): Cleans thoroughly and deep into the pores of all rubber and plastic rollers in your printing press. In many pressrooms, problems can arise because ink rollers run blind. This fault is often undetectable by visual control as the deposit layers on the rollers may be difficult to see. Such deposits can be formed by printing inks (especially reds), as well as by fountain solution reacting with ink components, or by paper coating substances. It will improve your ink transfer and sheet release, reduces any hickies and tail-end hook, eliminates chalking and minimises tack, without affecting the rheology of your ink. • SureCare Metering Roller Treatment: SureCare MRT is a special dual-action cleaner & conditioner for continuous dampening system rollers. SureCare MRT will quickly and easily remove ink and other build-up from metering, pick-up and transport rollers. Roller Deep Cleaning Regime: 1. Apply Vegra PURO-O-PAST to rollers, on top of ink, with appropriate ink knife / spatula. Do this with wash-up blade off, run for 4 minutes. This lifts ink and other deposits from the roller surface and holds it within the ink film making it easier for the solvent to remove. 2. Run wash-up cycle using PressPower GREEN 1. 3. Apply Vegra Roller Shampoo 20 20 11 (VP 187) to rollers and allow to run in for a short while with blade off. Vegra Roller Shampoo 20 20 11 (VP 187) removes calcium deposits and neutralises alkaline deposits picked up from the paper throughout the day. 4. Wash Vegra Roller Shampoo 20 20 11 (VP 187) off with plain water for 2 minutes and then apply blade (this also helps remove lint, paper dust etc). 5. Wash once again with PressPower GREEN 1. 6. Apply Vegra Color Thix to the rollers with appropriate ink knife / spatula and allow to run in for a short while. This seals the roller pores that have been opened by the application of solvent. 7. Run colour back on to the rollers over the Vegra Color Thix, This will not affect the rheology of the ink and will improve the take-up of ink. 8. Finally clean and condition dampening meter rollers with SureCare Metering Roller Treatment.
