Pressroom Printing Aids - Ink Additives:
Vegra ink additives enhance the characteristics of your printing inks, under a
range of operating conditions, providing your with consistent ink transfer, better
ink/water balance and faster drying.
Vegra Color Thix (printing ink gel):

Ink too thick or tacky?

There is no universal printing ink suited to all types of substrates. Most
printing inks become tacky and more compact during prolonged
storage. Therefore every printer needs suitable aids to match ink
consistency to individual requirements.
Vegra Color Thix is a thixotropic ink tack alleviator designed for dosage
at just 3-5%. It will improve your ink transfer and sheet release,
reduces any hickies and tail-end hook, eliminates chalking and
minimises tack, without affecting the rheology of your ink.
Advantages include:

Problem free mixing, even in the ink duct.

Reduces tack without making inks thin.
o
No loss of contrast when adding up to 3 percent volume.

Improves ink travel off rollers.

Enables printing of smooth solids even on poor quality stock.

Allows printing at top press speed.

Prevents curling of lightweight paper in the delivery.

Overcomes the chalking problems caused by a shortage of
pigment binding medium, on the printed sheet, when using modern
quick setting inks.
Vegra Color Stabil (offset printing ink additive):

Piling on the rollers at points of low ink transfer?

Glazing of distribution, rubber and ink duct rollers?

Modern, quick-absorbing offset printing inks often cause a loss of
printing quality under specific conditions, such as reduced ink transfer
or adverse water influences.
Vegra Color Stabil is an ink enhancer which overcomes the problem of
poor ink/water balance and is ideal when you are only transferring
small quantities of ink, particularly if you are using gold and silver inks.
In addition, the product does not effect the absorption and drying of the
inks, but increases gloss and rub resistance while improving half-tone
contrast.
Color Stabil has proved highly effective as an additive to all web and
sheet offset inks, and is also suitable for offset printing business forms.
Advantages include:

In halftone printing: dot sharpness, uniform ink film, increased
contrast.
o
In the printing of solids: improved impression, ghosting risk
reduced.
o
In carton printing: smooth surfaces, increased rub resistance, no
piling.
o
In printing with metal inks: improved feed, longer intervals between
wash-ups, improved gloss and rub resistance.
Additional information:
For continuous stationery printers: Color Stabil is uniquely
suited as an aid in the printing of forms where inking is very low as
it improves ink acceptance, also when using special-purpose inks
for laser printers.
The thorough drying of such inks on the paper is substantially
aided by the addition of Color Stabil.
Vegra Graf-O-Sicc (oxygen active drying agent):
Vegra Graf-O-Sicc is an ink drying agent, oxygen
activator triggered by water to reduce your ink
drying times. Particularly effective if you are
printing on metal foils and other non-absorbent
substrates. Neutral in colour, does not affect the
stability of your ink.
Advantages include:

Compensates for emulsified fountain solution.
o
Speeds up drying process by activated oxygen.
o
Fast and thorough drying of the ink film, even on foils and non-
absorbent materials.
o
Improves rub resistance due to faster drying of the offset inks.
o
Will not dry or cake in the can, does not form a skin, thus
economical in use.
Applications include:
o
All folding cartons and package printings.
o
Printing on polyethylene, PVC and all other plastics.
o
Printing on aluminium foil and vacuum metallised papers.
o
Printing on Syntosil, Polyart and other synthetic papers.
o
Printing on bronze coated or color coated papers and boards, such
as Chromolux-Metallic.
o
Processing of gold inking primer.
o
Processing of gold and silver printing inks.
o
Printing onto matt coated papers to obtain improved rub
resistance.
